The Biggest Transfer in Sri Lankan Esports History?

In the latest transfer news we have 3 new teams leaving the Noob Alliance Overwatch wing to join Phoenix GaminG. This brings the grand total up to 23. A record-breaking 23 members, 4 whole teams have left the Tribe to join the Red Nation within the span of just a few weeks. I know our readers want the juice so we will give you the in depth scoop. But first, what is Overwatch?

Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment and released on May 24, 2016, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. Described as a “hero shooter” Overwatch assigns players into two teams of six, with each player selecting from a roster of over 30 characters, known as “heroes”; each with a unique style of play that is divided into three general roles that fit their purpose. Players in each team work together to secure and defend control points on a map or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time.

Let’s take a step back and look at all the events that lead up to this. First we have the well known Demigod stepping down as head of nA Overwatch and parting ways. Then we have nA’s top Overwatch team Blackwatch now known as 321Dive diverge from the tribe to join Phoenix; and then a week later we had 3 whole teams follow suit. What could cause such substantial amount of people to leave? There seem to be numerous internal issues within the organization and the tribe isn’t as well knit as they appear.

One of the many reasons appears to be their players are feeling ostracized and lack of infrastructure within the organization

“We left na because we didn’t get any support from the clan. We were a team with people who just started playing ow, we were new to the na clan and felt we were always left out. We didn’t see a reason to stay in the clan.” – Piumal ‘Fuzzbuzz’ Upeka

, and the management doesn’t seem concerned or interested about internal strife happening in the clan.

“It all happened because of a pointless dispute between 2 players, which should have been resolved quickly but wasn’t. It went so far that whole teams left the clan.” – Ruvinda ‘Falca’ Ranaweera

Those left in charge appear to be neglecting their duties which begs the question why were they assigned that position?

“If the wing leaders did their jobs properly after I left, this wouldn’t have happened in the first place” – Wihitha ‘DemiGod’ Deshan Thathsara

Some have opted to follow in the footsteps of Demigod which tells us he was the one who built the wing from the ground up and the pillar holding it up. Without him it seems to be crumbling down.

“The main reason I decided to join Phoenix was because of my team and a certain individual named DemiGOD who has taken care of me throughout my time in nA” – Avishka ‘Godslayer’ David

We here at Phoenix GaminG welcome these new members with open arms and wish them the very best in the future.

“Nice to see they moved on and joined us instead, where they will be properly taken care of and rewarded accordingly. No player should ever be staying where they feel unhappy or unwelcome. More importantly this is an opportunity to strengthen the brotherhood and friendship amongst the players whom were previously rivals” – Praveen ‘TIMEL0RD’ Malinga

These new additions will further strengthen our clan and we will do our utmost to see that they are recognized and appreciated for their contributions. We look forward to watching them soar under our wing.

“The latest transfers from nA to our OW dept. has been huge and fast. The transfers were not just about the numbers but also consisted some immense quality in them. The resources that we acquired didn’t have just gaming skills, but were also potential talent in other diverse areas which can uplift the clan as a whole. We hope to bring the best out of them in the future.” – PnX Director Safwan ‘CB’ Mansoor
